About Wyzbook
Wyzbook (wise book) - pronounced [wīz][bŏŏk] - is a project that makes possible the transformation of a plain text book document into something which is much more interesting!
What exactly does it do?
It can take your book written in a popular electronic format and put it into a nice, fancy interface.
More specifically
There are a couple of stages through which a document is transformed
- your text is put in a popular electronic format (we are currently using Microsoft Word)
- a processor transforms the text into XML
- the final XML document is fed to our Flash Interface
How can you contribute?
Wyzbook is an open source project and we welcome any kind of contribution that would help this project grow. A lot of time has been invested in finding the proper path for passing from a Word document to a little smart book. Now, that we have it, the basic features of the book have to be developed into more powerful ones. Here are some activities in which we could use your expertise:
- coupling a web based thesaurus with our interface
- enriching the smart book XML format
- developing a keyword annotation tool
- developing a tool for taking notes
- develop a semantic disambiguation engine
